Hi everyone!

I'm the creator of open-source headless e-commerce framework vendure. I'm based in Vienna, Austria but originally from the UK.

My project is still in the beta phase and I don't yet have any commercial offerings, but I plan to release some commercial plugins next year (open core model). Right now I have a healthy community with ~600 members in my Slack group and a number of teams & individuals building projects on top of Vendure. Just today I had a call with a team who is using Vendure to build the online store system for a major European supermarket chain!

I'm happy to be a part of this community and share insights with like-minded people πŸ‘‹

Hi all, I'm Chas, Founder and CTO of an imaging AI company called gliff.ai. We recently received seed funding to develop a suite of private and secure productivity tools for developing imaging AI in regulated space (e.g. health-tech, aerospace, etc.). We've decided to go open-source with our products and have managed to bring our investors on board with the idea and so are now working out the details.

When I next get a proper holiday I also want to pick up a project I started during lock-down to create and open-source (software and hardware) system for automating my Gaggia Classic semi-automated espresso machine... I believe that the extra caffeine might be essential to get us to round A funding!

I'll probably be posting some fairly open questions to help us clarify our ideas surrounding COSS for gliff.ai. I look forward to the discussions!

Hi everyone, I'm Zack Ellis. I'm the founder & CEO of TheirStory. We're building an end-to-end oral history platform to help communities streamline the process for collecting, preserving, and making accessible the audiovisual stories of the individuals that make up their community.

We're very much inspired by the work of the Shoah Foundation -- founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg and responsible for recording, indexing, and preserving the stories of over 55,000 Holocaust and other genocide survivors. Their former executive director, Doug Greenberg is an advisory board member. Our goal is to take the lessons learned around process and technology from the Shoah Foundation and build a platform that will be accessible for any community to preserve and pass on their values, stories, and lessons for generations to come.

We work closely with The Permanent Legacy Foundation who is building an open source preservation platform. More on our partnership here.

One of the challenges of audiovisual media (especially long-form) is finding the moments that are interesting to any given individual and easily editing/manipulating the media. We work closely with the open source community who are building transcript-powered audiovisual technologies to create open source components that we then integrate into TheirStory to create a single integrated system. The open source community is largely led by the Hyperaudio team.

Looking forward to connecting with others in the COSS community!

Hi @sam ,

at the moment we are in contact with multiple open source projects that showed interest but we are still testing it on a smaller scale. It is still a prototype and we are lacking resources to scale it since the main developers working full time in other jobs and we also have not that many contact in the COSS community yet.

The concept was tested internally with quite some success and distributed around 3000€ between the contributors of LibreSelery and its dependencies. In the last months, we gathered feedback from multiple communities like GNU or Debian to evaluate the needs of the community. You can see this feedback in our issue board. A new architecture that allows better community adaptions has been created by us and will be released in the next week. Together with the RWTH Aachen University we are also evaluating the economical factor. We are still looking for a stronger partner to go larger steps, that one reason why I joined this community.

@sam does coss.community have a policy around re-posting blog content here to give it better distribution in the coss.community? (cross-posting used to be out of favor, but I don't think that's true any longer... ) Please advise :-) TIA!

Software developers can use Awala to make existing Internet-based work offline (just like we did with Twitter), or they can build Awala-native apps to unlock additional benefits – such as avoiding (not just mitigating) spam and phishing, and in the future also Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and misinformation, to name a few.
