  • Eric Newcomer: "Databricks is in talks to raise at a valuation somewhere between $35 billion and $40 billion, sources told me." Link

  • Tracy Miranda: "Unpopular opinion: there aren't enough open source foundations. We could do with many, many, many more helping sustain projects and grow communities." Link

  • Ed Sim: "Hot off the press: 'What's 🔥 in Enterprise IT/VC Issue #250', PLG + Dev First Rule, breaking down the Top 20" Link

  • Iheanyi Ekechukwu: "Not only do I love working at PlanetScale and hacking on our product, but I also really enjoy using our product every single day. Wrote more about how we use PlanetScale to build PlanetScale. If it's not good enough for us, it's not good enough for you." Link

  • ParallelNFT: 📈 Link

  • Sourcegraph: "We're indexing every open source repo with > 1 star on GitHub and GitLab to bring code search to the open source universe." Link

  • Setting new expectations for open source maintainers by Luis Villa (opensource.com). Link

  • Corey Quinn: "Holy hell @awscloud, I was kidding you jackholes! https://businesswire.com/news/home/2021" Link

  • JJ: "To all my COSS homies who are afraid I've abandoned you for NFT land: Fear not! NFTs are actually fundamentally COSS --- they would not exist without this cool open source project known as Ethereum (LGPL 2.0 licensed, written in Go). Why do I LOVE NTFs? A thread..." Link

  • FOSSA: "Everything you need to know about the LGPL open source software license, including its relationship to #GPL and key differences between LGPL v2.1 and v3 #OSS." Link

  • Umbrel: "Umbrel 0.4.1 is now out with @lightning LND v0.13.1, latest versions of @mempool, @SpecterWallet, @BtcpayServer, @SamouraiWallet Server (Dojo + Whirlpool) in the Umbrel App Store, performance upgrades, bug fixes, and more. Simply login to your Umbrel to update!" Link

  • The Jiho: "Capitalism and Socialism are now loaded terms that rile people up too much for productive discussion. I think the Crypto-economy is actually a moderate middle road with positive elements from both sides of the political spectrum and a blend of Eastern and Western thinking." Link

  • JJ: "IMO, open core as a company building approach is a positive term relative to the open source core, not a negative one. I've always believed that the open source core (vs. the closed "crust") is most valuable to non-customers, not least valuable; inverse methods are anti-patterns." Link

  • Christopher L: "I disagree with that definition. Open Core is ONLY successful if the open source is viable and usable by a large % of users. The value add is in delivering services that something like large enterprises would like, but are unable or unwilling to develop on their own." Link

  • The Jiho: "Community members that dedicate their lives to learning everything about a single project will always have project-specific alpha over professional investors that need to learn about many projects. This is a feature not a bug." Link

  • Ed Sim: "Hot off the press: 'What's 🔥 in Enterprise IT/VC Issue #210', APIs + developer tools for the win, Postman and Apollo at at combined $7.1B of value, Postman's dev first flywheel." Link

  • Remix: "It's 5pm on Friday. In other words, it's a great time to release new software! React Router v6.0.0-beta.2, hot off the press. npm install react-router@next react-router-dom@next" Link
